You are not alone.
When Miranda turned 27, she felt like her whole life was falling apart. Her career was in shambles, she had just broken up with her long-term boyfriend Tom. Not to mention how rocky her spiritual life was. Her daily prayer was Why me God? It seemed as if she has been encountering all the bad breaks in life. Her colleagues and ex-classmates seem to be progressing in life while she is stuck or worse moving backward. What weighed her down the most was that she couldn’t help but think that she is the only one going through struggles in life.
Many of us are like Miranda. We think we are the only ones who encounter challenges along the journey of life and that is far from the truth. Everyone has their share of challenges in life. Life is seasonal and whatever you are going through in this season is subject to change, good or bad everything is subject to change. ( To stay equipped on how to deal with change read who moved my cheese ). This is your sign to stop hosting pity parties with the idea that you are the only one going through hardships and no one else understands.
If you are still on earth, there is still some fight left in you, all you need to do is tap into it. One of the best ways to deal with a challenging season is to simply do the next right thing. Take small steps each day that will lead you out of the challenges you are facing. Don’t wait for the right conditions to live your life or move in the direction of your dreams. It’s just like losing weight, the day you decide to workout is not the day you see the results. However in the long run after daily sessions of exercise, you will see the results. What is the next step you are supposed to be taking today? Tap into that fight left.
Let’s take a look at some of the ways to help you keep your head up during tough seasons.
Clear Your Mind And Plan Your Way Into The Next Season
Being in a messy state can cause you to be unproductive or lose your sense of reasoning. One of the most powerful tools we have as human beings is the ability to use our minds and think for ourselves. But just like a messy home, a cluttered mind can not function to its optimum. When your home is a mess, you spend a whole lot of time trying to find misplaced items, car keys, socks, and pens only to name a few. On the contrary when you have a tidy home productivity increases because you are not wasting time on unimportant things. The same applies to your mind. A clear and focused mind will allow you to construct an effective plan to take you out of your mess.
To make effective plans, surround yourself with:
Advisors
Proverbs 11:14 says where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors, there is safety. Advisors are the people who give you counsel on your plans. Make sure these people have nothing to gain or lose in the plans you are making and are of good character as well.
Motivators
These are your cheerleaders in life, people who believe in you and want to genuinely see you win. Who are your motivators? those are the people you can share your vision with and they will be there to remind you of that dream during the tough seasons.
Problem solvers
Critical thinkers and problem solvers are crucial when you are making plans. These people will help you navigate through challenges instead of hosting a pity party with you.
It takes a community
Even the self-made successful people in our communities had one or two people who believed in them. You are not meant to do this life alone. Surround yourself with people who love you. Maybe your family is not in the picture but the greatest gift of adulting is that we get to create our families and communities as we meet people throughout life. Not everyone is out to get you, break down your walls, and allow people to be part of your life journey.
In all this, stay true to yourself. Nothing beats authenticity. The challenges we face in life are not worth betraying ourselves. Friend, remember life is seasonal the challenges you are going through are subject to change so keep your head up and don’t forget to take the next step.
