Go Back To The Fundamentals: Let’s Dream Again

A Day In A Life of An Adult
Wake up at 5 am, the first thing to come to mind is an unfished task and pending bills that need payment. 5:30 am hit the gym, for some, probably the most sane part of their day. 6:30 am take a bath and prepare for work, or worse; some are still in bed because they have nothing going on for them. Sadly for some it is not intentional. 7 am, leave for work, and encounter all the commuting frustration. 8 am spend the day at work mostly for one motive to pay bills! End of the day, you hold in your hands a paycheck that still can’t pay your bills and end up all stressed and worked out. The next thing you are finding ways to cope, and for some, this may mean excessive daily drinking, drugs, or meaningless sexual relationships. Does this describe the way you are living? Well, it may not be this drastic, but are you truly enjoying this life journey?
When we were younger, most of us wanted to become grownups so as to live our dreams. Years passed, and you became the grownup you have always wanted to be. Are you living your dreams? Adult life becomes difficult because we stop dreaming. As a child, you permitted yourself to dream, but as you get older and encounter the trials and hardships life has to offer, you tend to switch from dream mode to survival mode. Why is that? This is because we lose hope, we get introduced to the ‘reality of life,’ and all we need is to make it through today, or we subscribe to the outside’s definition of what it means to be making it as an adult.
Take Yourself Out of Survival Mode
My friend, survival mode is the worst state to live your life in. It’s exhausting, full of stress, and anxiety, just to mention a few of the clusters of negative emotions it is associated with. I have been there; in fact, I am in the state as I write this. I am here to tell you to remind you and me to dream again, to go back to the basics. What are those things that sparked joy into your life before you got to encounter the ‘realities of life’? I understand there are seasons in life, but in every season, don’t lose your dream. Don’t lose sight of the dreams God placed on your heart. Yes, put in the work, and pay your bills but keep your dreams alive, keep hope alive, and it will carry you through those days you are facing the ‘realities of life.’
Be a child again, dream again. What brings you joy? What subject sparks your heart? For me, it’s personal growth and writing, and today I choose to make this a constant part of my life despite the season I am in. What dream are you choosing to bring hope to again today? Step out of survival mode and dream again. You deserve to get the best out of life’s journey.
You are designed to do life big, so live.laugh.cry.love but never stop dreaming and rest in the love of God.
