Is your busy Schedule Aligned To The Bigger Picture?
Your Goals Cannot Immediately Call You Out For Not Showing Up
I love hearing how many people randomly throw the word “busy”. Busy has become the number one excuse for not showing up in life. How many times have you heard meaningless apologies wrapped up in the “busy” excuse? With everyone living in a busy environment, I wonder why we have little to no results to show in our lives, yet we are the busiest generation to show up. While we can apologize for not showing up to people, we can’t do the same for not showing up for our dreams and goals. We might not notice that we got carried away in the activity of life that we forget to keep the main thing the main thing.
This year, as personal growth strategies, we are adamant about one thing: maintaining momentum throughout the year for the dreams, goals, and desires God has placed on our hearts. We are not only showing up in the first and the last months of 2026. Instead, we are remaining consistent, without letting distractions or life’s busyness & routine get in the way of showing up for what is important. People have the ability to call you out when you are not showing up in relationships, but unfortunately, your dreams cannot, well, maybe later in the future, in the form of regret and what ifs.
Account For Your Time
Just because your day is filled with activity does not mean you are on the right trajectory. You have to learn to be accountable for your time. Activity might be a form of distraction, blocking you from doing the things that will bring in results. In Ephesians, we are encouraged to make the best use of our time. After a busy day or week, when someone asks you what you have been doing, you have to be able to account not only for your time but also attach the activity to the bigger picture. For example, if your goal is to make sales in your business, your busy day might look like prospecting and making calls. Your activity is tied to a bigger picture. KPI should not just be in businesses and the corporate world, it’s also important for your personal development. Taking time out to spend with friends or family, random check-ups over the phone may seem inconvenient, but if the bigger picture is to cultivate good relationships, these are good activities that can be tied to your KPI.
To steward your time effectively, evaluate your day-to-day activities and see whether they are bringing you closer to your goals and the person you want to be, or pulling you away. One practical tip to help you take note of your activity is to ask yourself these two questions at the start of the day and at the end of the day.
Practical Questions To Stay Aligned To The Bigger Picture.
This week’s practical strategy is to help us keep momentum by doing the things that keep us a step closer to achieving our goals. This step is simple and practical. One more thing, don’t just read about it, put it into practice this week, starting today!
Two Questions that Will Get You closer to achieving your goals.
I believe in the power of planning. When you don’t plan, it leads you to staying busy doing the things that are not important. This personal growth strategy is hinged on two questions:
Before you start your day, pick the top goals or the goal that you are currently focusing on. Ask yourself and write down the answer to this question,
What can I do today that will take me one step closer to achieving my goal?
Day End;
What have I done today that is aligned to the bigger picture, i.e., achieve my goal?
This will ensure that you are busy doing productive and aligned actions. Remember, it’s the small things that compound to help you attain your God-given dreams & goals.
