You Have To Give Up To Go Up.

Hie Friends😊 Have you ever had to give up something in your life? How did you feel about it? Was it worth it? Lastly, did you regret your decision in the end? Most of us probably answered the last question with a smile because when you make a trade-off, you almost always get something better in return. This is what happens when you decide to grow yourself, you have got to be prepared to give up a lot of what was familiar on the way. The good news is you will be making room for bigger and better things. It sounds easy when being said, but in the actual scenario letting go of the norm is one of the hardest things to do.
You have to give up to go up. So many of us think we can continue doing what we are doing and somehow manage to accomplish our desired goals. For us to move to the next level of success in our lives ( growth), we will come to a point where we need to make a decision. And its at that moment where you need to give up one side of the coin and run with the other one. The root of the word “Decision” comes from Latin and means, “to cut off.” Making a decision is about “cutting off” choices – cutting you off from some other course of action you cannot have both. You never see a person going up the mountain with a lot of luggage, do you? mountain climbers carry as little language as possible meaning they have to carefully select the crucial things to climb up with. The moment you start your growth journey you should be prepared to make tradeoffs infect the more you grow the harder the tradeoffs become. The best things in front of you demand a price. It may be giving up a job, some of the company that is constantly hindering your growth or even your time. It’s in the tradeoff that allows you to go to the next level.
No matter what your goals are, giving up INSTANT GRATIFICATION is inevitable. Yes, you have to be willing to give up instant gratification for growth. Studies show that instant gratification is one of the major causes of failure in life. We all find ourselves distracted from meeting our long-term goals because we are distracted by “enjoyable” short-term activities. Years go by then you wonder why you are still stuck in the same position. We tend to want to do what is going to make us feel good right now and forgetting the consequences that come with our actions.
Let’s define instant gratification shall we
- Instant (or immediate) gratification is a term that refers to the temptation, and resulting tendency, to forego a future benefit in order to obtain a less rewarding but more immediate benefit
- Instant gratification is a habit where you forgo short-term pain, and instead, indulge in fleeting pleasures that ultimately result in long-term pain.
- immediate satisfaction, instant pleasure, reward at once, prompt enjoyment
The things we enjoy (instant gratification) often result in the things we hate. Let me give an example of this, we want a bomb body good health but we enjoy having fast food daily with no exercise. Preparing a healthy meal and cardio feels daunting in the now. You have to make a decision to give up instant gratification. This however will require discipline. No discipline at the time seems pleasant but painful, Later on, however, it produces a harvest. When you make it a habit to delay gratification you are more likely to achieve your goals.
You have to give up to grow up. Amongst all the things you know you have to give up, remember to give up instant gratification.
