Tips To Grow During The Difficult Times

5 Signs You're Stressed at Work - The Muse

How do you cope with difficult times? Let’s face it, Nobody likes tough times. Those moments that you are in pain and uncertain what the future holds. In those tough times, that’s where we grow, build muscle of course it depends on what you do during this time. It’s easy to spend time complaining and murmuring about a situation. Complaining always draws you deeper and deeper into the problems and covers every light to the solution. During this time it’s easy to give in to anxiety and worry which in most cases leads to depression. Here is the thing bad breaks are always going to come your way, the most important thing is how you respond. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond. No matter what strive to stay passionate about life ( https://tanyafungai.com/tips-to-stay-passionate-about-life/). Within you, you have the positive and negative emotions ( faith and fear) the real question is what are you going to let win. The one you feed the most will get the trophy. What you focus on you magnify. I am not implying that you neglect reality, but what will you choose to do with the reality in difficult times.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) | WHO | Regional Office for Africa

This is a time where the world is living in fear due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fear of contracting the virus, fear of business shutting down, fear of going broke and lastly fear of death/ losing loved ones. It’s easy to fill yourself with the negative due to information overload. When you turn on the news, log in to any social media platform you can easily get discouraged. Yes, its good to turn on the news so that you can be up to date with what’s going on around you but honestly do you need to listen for 5 – 6 hours, just 10 minutes could be just fine. Continuous listening to the news can leave you in fear because that is what you are feeding yourself. Choose carefully what you allow in your ears at this moment.

As I said above, difficult moments are the times to build muscles. Here are some of the things you could do during this period so that you can come out of this situation as the best version of you. Most of these tips are focused on feeding the positive (faith) in you and starving the negative (fear)

1. Engage in Positive Challenges

Since you are likely to be spending time at home, you have plenty of time to engage in positive challenges that can contribute to your success and boost your confidence. Here is one of my favorites that I found in Tony Robbins’s Book: Awaken Then Giant Within

The 10 Day Mental Challenge

· Rule 1

In the next consecutive days, refuse to dwell on any unresourceful thoughts/feelings. Refuse to indulge in any disempowering questions or use devitalizing vocabulary or metaphors.

· Rule 2

When you catch yourself beginning to focus on the negative, immediately use techniques to change your state, specifically use the problem-Solving questions technique i.e ask yourself empowering questions like What can I do to better this situation. What else can I do to achieve my desired outcome? Note The answers don’t just pop up the first time you ask the question. Remember you are trying to get yourself out of the negative state, therefore, continue asking yourself until you start brainstorming the positive solutions

· Rule 3

For the next ten days, make certain that your whole focus is on solutions not problems, the minute you see a possible challenge immediately focus on what the solution could be.

· Rule 4

If you backslide i.e if you catch yourself indulging in negative or unresourceful feelings change immediately if not start over from day 1 until you complete ten continuous days.

2. Exercise

This could be the perfect time to get back its shape. With plenty of time on your side, you might as well set aside an hour or so for physical workout.

3. Declutter

Is your house clean enough to have visitors? When the rest of the world is in self – isolation why don’t you take that time to declutter your space? Remove all those unwanted items lying around your house. Purge your closet and donate some of the clothes you haven’t worn in years. A clean space is always refreshing.

4. Get your finances in order

Use some of this time to track how you have been spending your money from the beginning of this year. Come up with a better plan to save more money, it could carrying your lunch from home instead of buying breakfast and lunch when you go to work/ school. Brainstorm on ways you can earn extra income or investment opportunities.

5. Build your Product

If you are an entrepreneur this is a perfect time to build your product and strategies on ways you can maximize profits out of it. Create a business plan and model for your startup. If you are already in operation analyze to see what’s working and what’s not. You could also look for ways to improve your product so that it can be of great value to your clients.

6. Develop a morning/ evening routine

 7.Learn a new skill

You can enroll in a course online to sharpen your skills and become a more valuable asset in your field. Instead of depleting your energy complaining about what is happening around you, you could use the same energy to advance your skills.

Here is the last and my favorite

8. Spend time with the Lord

Whether you believe in God/ or not I believe we all sense/ believe that there is a higher power that cannot physically see but holds up the universe. I find that when I spend time with the Lord I come out renewed refreshed and encourage. The bible is full of scripture that gives hope and instruction to live a fulfilled life. This is the best place to be when the world is going through a tough times, It allows you to feed your faith instead of fear.

There you have it, I hope this article will help you go through the period of COVID- 19 and help you come out as a better person. I would like to stand with you during this period. You can send me a message just head on to my contact page and let’s stay encouraged together.
