Your Story Is Beautiful: Own Every Chapter

I enjoy listening to people’s life stories, If given a chance everyone you come across has a story to tell. A series of events has gotten them to the point that they are in their lives. That is why it is never wise to judge or envy someone’s life by the chapter you walked into their life on. Most of us have role models, It’s easy for us to say I would like to be like ABC, it looks like they have a good marriage, a good carrier, a good startup or they do not struggle financially. Yes, you might be wishing to be like them, but are you willing to go through what they went through to get to where they are right now. Are you willing to invest the time, let go of offenses, or be committed to going for counseling to have the good marriage that you see? Are you willing to live way below your means and let go of the luxury while you work hard to not struggle financially as they do not? The point I am trying to put across is that, we all go through processes, we go through adversities before we get to enjoy the fruit of our hard work.
If given a chance everyone you come across has a story to tell.
I was reminded of this when I was watching one of my favorite YouTubers Claude & Co’s house tour. The home was absolutely stunning, but her stories made me realize that this stunning home did not come up overnight. She gets to appreciate the home more because she had to go through adversity as well as grow through it to get to a point where viewers are envying her home.
Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional
Roger Crawford
This applies to you and me, do not grow weary if your vision has not yet manifested or seems like it’s taking long. Enjoy the process, keep a good attitude and grasp the lessons you are learning during the period. Cultivate joy in every chapter of your story even the seemingly not-so-good ones. One way of cultivating joy during adversity is to intentionally look for things you are grateful for at that moment. In their the book, Ikigai: The Japanese Secret To a long Happy Life, states that the people in the village of Okinawa ( the village with the highest life expectancy rate in the world) attribute their long life to having a good attitude and living in harmony with the people around them. Let joy be your daily companion despite what is going on around you. Having joy, during adversity does not imply getting comfortable in your situation but having a good attitude while working yourself out of it.

We grow and build character during adversity. Look at those difficult chapters in your life as an opportunity for growth. Trust the process and you will appreciate your victories more after working your way out of the challenges that come with them.
