Growth Is The Only Guarantee that Your Tomorrow Will Become Better
Many years later, I still believe that Growth is the only guarantee that your tomorrow will become better. This is a famous quote by John Maxwell. When you are growing, change is inevitable, and that change is what brings about the better in your tomorrow. Inasmuch as I believe this to be true and put all my effort into it, I would like to admit that I was wrong. Yes, there is some truth in it, but that is not the whole truth. I haven’t been writing about personal development in the longest time, to be honest the thought of it kind of made me feel like a failure, wrapped up with the excuses that I don’t have time you name it ( unfortunately the fasted thing you can find are excuses, don’t give them the opportunity). While this can be true, I would also like to acknowledge that this was a much needed break because only in this period was when my eyes were opened to a much more fulfilling side of personal growth, the one that does not take away all the principles of personal growth you might know, but instead fulfills them and help you grow making sure your tomorrow will surely be better. What better way to be back on this blog than to set the trajectory of where these personal growth strategies are heading and the foundation on which they lie.
In my previous posts, I used to be conflicted about bringing God into the blogs I published. The truth is I was afraid, afraid that not all my readers believe, and yet I still wanted everyone, including me, to learn from these nuggets I share. Yes, if you haven’t guessed it by now, this is the different perspective of personal growth we are bringing to the table! During the season I was not active on this blog, I boldly learnt that I cannot separate God from my personal growth journey, and neither can you. One of the major reasons why we fail in life is that we try to put our lives in compartments. Unfortunately, just like Terri Savelle Foy says, the way we do anything is the way we do everything. You can lie to yourself that I don’t have to give my all at this job because I don’t like it, or because I am not treated fairly, but when I have my own company or a new job, I will show up 100%. I would guarantee you that if you do not change where you are, it will end up being the same in your new job or company. One might say I can be cruel in this relationship with this person because we are not close and kind in another, your cruelty will eventually show up in the latter relationship. The whole point is that your life is one, but it has different facets held up together by one foundation. For me, that foundation is that God fulfills my growth journey; I don’t have to do it in my own effort and boast about what I can do! Besides, tell me about any principle in personal development that is not in the bible. The fullness of personal development is not exclusive of God.
God Wants To Help You in Your Personal Growth Journey
Sometimes, strategy does not give the complete picture of what happens behind the scenes. You can have the theoretical aspect of managing time and have results for it, but unfortunately, as a recipient of the information, you might take it as a linear journey, which is far from it. Taking personal development/self-help as a result, I can equate it to an individual without discipline working out with a fitness trainer. The bible says about discipline: A man without discipline is like a city with broken down walls. When a city has broken down walls, anything can happen at any time. There is no structure, so obviously this individual cannot consistently work out to bring about results. Inasmuch as they can theoretically know how to do the plank, burpees, and squats, without discipline, the results are not eternal. But with a trainer, it pushes him; the trainer’s push/help instills discipline where the individual could not show up. Results start to show, but alas, they don’t show on the trainer; they show on the individual working out. When the individual is walking in public, they then decide whether to give credit to the trainer who was their present help. I hope you choose to give your trainer credit in all your wins!
The crazy part is we all have a free, volunteer trainer (God), but we still want self-help. Let’s learn to completely yield to the number one life coach/ trainer. Unfortunately, many of us are like a city with broken-down walls; we only go so far without God as our ultimate life coach. Let’s grab hold of the free missing link to our personal growth journey; that way, undoubtedly, our tomorrow will be better.
Personal growth includes all facets of your life, spiritual, physical, emotional, mental, social career, and this blog will boldly reflect that. Don’t worry, I will not be preaching, I will continually share strategies that I believe will make us operate in the best version of ourselves while making it clear on the foundation we stand on.
