Is Your Daily Life In Sync With Your Dreams?

It’s easy to write or talk about what you want to accomplish 2, 5 10 years from now. How successful you want to be; establishing the business of your dream, going back home to that beautiful family you have always wanted, watching your children run around or not lol. The bottom line is most people take time to paint a picture of what they want their future to be.  It’s easy to make a dream list or a wish list of things you want to happen in the future. This is a good technique, imagining and speaking into your future that is what the law of attraction teaches us. We spend so much time dreaming of the future forgetting that today, shapes your future. What we do today brings about our tomorrow. Remember this; “today is a result of your yesterday”.

So how can one guarantee a manifestation of their future dreams?, By forming habits today that will lead to a future that you dream of. John Maxwell says that the secret of your success is hidden in your daily routine, He goes on to say, If am to come and watch you the whole day, you get to pick a day I can determine how successful you will be 5-10 years down the line. Merriam Webster defines a habit as: Something that a person does often in a regular and repeated way. When you develop a good habit long enough, doing it requires less effort and goes on to yield good results. Let’s take a look at Debbie Macomber a new York times best selling author. Debbie created a habit of waking up at 04:30 to read her bible and write in her journal, By 6:30 she is swimming laps in her pool, She writes between 10.00 and 16.00. These habits made it possible for six of her books to be turned into television series and movies.

Aristotle wrote that: We are what we repeatedly do. Think about it, what causes you to label someone as aggressive, usually it is because you saw them being aggressive multiple times. We first make our habits and then our habits make us. The thing with habits is that they go hand in hand with the compound effect. If one develops a habit of writing every day, its no surprise that by the end of the year they can publish a book because the small daily practices lead to one big giant result. This is why there is no such thing as an overnight success, one ought to be doing something behind the scenes to bring about that overnight success. Creating good habits helps you to develop a routine, and routine gives you discipline which in turn leads to a positive outcome.

There is a story of a man who was riding on his horse at a high speed It looked as if he was in a hurry to reach a certain place. Another man standing on the side of the road shouted on top of his lungs “ where are you going?, The man on the horse replied I don’t know ask the horse. This story sounds ridiculous but we are all riding on the horse of our habits. Where is your horse taking you?

Most of the world’s successful people have a habit/ritual of some sort. You don’t need to start with a thousand habits at a time, just one will be enough. It’s like a penny that compounds daily until it becomes millions of dollars.

Analyze your habits this week, and see where they are taking you. Ask yourself this question, What can I do every day that can bring me a step closer to achieving my goals, this question can help you to create habits that will benefit you in the long run.
