Plan Your Way To Your Desired Destination.

What’s Next After Reflection

Over the past two weeks, we have been talking about the importance of reflection and the practical steps for reflecting on your personal growth journey. With reflection showing you where you stand in any area, it is the first step towards the direction you desire. When you know where you are, you can map out where you want to be through planning. Just like what Jim Rohn says,” 5, 10, 15 years from now you will arrive, the question is where?”

Where are you arriving?

Without a clear plan, we can easily stray in any direction. It’s difficult to stick to your guns when you have no idea where your destination is. In fact, you will keep moving and turning aimlessly until you tire and give up. When you don’t have a plan, it’s difficult to show up and do what you are supposed to do because there is no compass to follow. However, to make plans, you must have a destination. You only start planning for a journey when you know the destination. The destination will determine the supplies you take and which route to use. You cannot choose a path to destination B when you want to go to destination A simply because the route is easier. To make an effective plan, know where you want to arrive first. This is the concept of personal growth and goal setting. Planning helps you on the road to achieving your goals. Say, your goal is to buy a house, you will need a financial plan that will help you arrive at that destination. It could be saving, cutting costs to save more, and increasing your earning capacity, which will be your plan to reach your goal.

Treat Your Life as A Business

Any business that wants to stay afloat needs a plan. Fortune 500 companies don’t guess about what their future might look like; they plan, they model, they forecast. If a business is not planning, it’s flying blind. Forecasting brings clarity, control, and confidence to a business. If companies that can close at any point in time take time to plan, your life, which is far more valuable than a company, surely needs that same level of seriousness.

Surrender Your Plans To The Lord

Proverbs 19:21 Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand. (AMPC)

On this personal development blog, we always make it clear that there is no effective personal development without God in it. God is the master planner, and his plans never miss the destination. His plan for our salvation is the perfect example of this! Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, but at the end of it is the way of death. Allow the Lord to direct you to your destination or plans. Sometimes, our plans are redirected by the Lord, and in the end, we realize that’s exactly the destination we need to be at. When you make plans, don’t be rigid to God’s redirection or fixated on how you want it to unfold. You are to plan, but when redirection from the Holy Spirit comes, run with it because His plans for you are for good, to prosper you, not to harm you, to give you a hope and a future. Surely that will lead you to a good destination. Seek the Lord for your plans
